All S.O.s Treated Like Monsters!

I am a Sex Offender. In 1992 I had consensual sex with a 16 year old when I was 21 but was told that she was 18. I was convicted of Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile in 1993 and was put on probation. In 1994 people found out about it, and a girl accused me of having sex with her. She was 16 at the time as well. Because of the previous conviction, it was hard to prove my innocence. Fortunately, the young lady called my house and spoke to my girlfriend, and my girlfriend allowed the answering machine to pick up before talking. She asked her a series of questions including full name, date of birth, and social security number. The girl gave all that to her in the conversation and then said that I got smart with her and she found out that I was a sex offender. The tape could not be used in court, but the DA did agree to hear it, and I only got probation instead of jail time. And got released from probation early.

But because I have two separate convictions on me, I now have to register for life. It has been 15 years; I have kids and have not and will not re-offend. I want to go on with my life and try to get it back together but can’t due to my state’s new law. My kids are upset because they want me to to come to their games and I can’t. The governor of this state calls us “monsters”! and the State doesn’t have any room for forgiveness at all. I have helped so many people in my community over the last 15 years. I have people in the City Government that would give me letters of support to petition the court to release me from registration, but there are not statues on record that will give me that chance. This was 15 years ago! I’ve got a good job and family and supporters in the community but no way of getting it done. If there is any way you can help, I would love to know. I know I am not the only one like this. Not all sex offenders had sex with infants and murdered them! I really would like to have a normal life again.
