My brother who is 22 just had to register as a sex offender today!! When he was 18 yrs old he was got in trouble for looking at pornographic images on the internet. He was 18 yrs old looking at pictures of girls who were 16, this was the first time they ever had a computer in their house and he honestly didn’t know that it was against the law. Now 4 years later, it is finally settled, but he has 60 months supervised probation and had to register as a sex offender, he also lost his job because of all this mess. There has to be some way to differentiate between those who actually commit sex crimes and those who are looking at pictures or other similar things. At 22 he is labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life.
The day the police showed up at the house, he was not arrested and has never been arrested, so that tells me that they know he is not one of these people who have actually committed a horrible crime! There has got to be some way for this to come off the innocent one’s record! You know when someone goes out and gets a DWI they are not labeled an alcoholic for the rest of their lives!! Something needs to be done and I am going to do all that I can to get this mess changed.
