No sex but placed on the registry anyway

I am a 61 year old man with three children who had a great marriage and a happy home. At the time of my “offense”, my daughter was 16 years old. In my state, that is the age of consent. I work outside and in the winter, I have a hard time dealing with the cold weather. One very cold day, I joked with my daughter and told her that when it got to be 80 degrees, I would drive her to school naked. Then, we got on the subject of nudism. To make a long story short, she saw me nude in our home. There was no sex of any kind, no touching, no  molestation, no nothing but being nude. Was that a terrible decision on my part, yes. Was it a criminal act, no. But when my wife found out, she went crazy. This was reported to DCFS who was not concerned. They dropped the case. They had to report it…

Case Managers of the BOP

The discrimanation begins before you leave the prision. I recived a sentance of 87  months for recipet of illegal material. Through good time and a drug and alcohol treatment program I earned one year good time and 18 months off from the treatment program. You would think ” Hey thats great!” But here is the rub. Myself and other inmates earned the time off but….. the case managers would not summit the applications folder to the half way houses. We were constantly told ” That they don’t take sex offenders. When asked where we could go? I was told, “I don’t know? You have to figure it out.” One case manager was removed because of her refusal to place S.O.’s.  I was released by a Grand Prairie officer who saw what was going on arranged my release along with others.  I am truly grateful to him and his ability to see that I person who made a mistake. Not some monster that…

Just one mistake

My offense dates back to 1988. I was a 18 year old kid with my whole life ahead of me . I found myself in a situation that I didn’t know would impact the rest of my life so far. I was accused of Indecency w/ a child a female neighbor who was 14 at the time.I didn’t have sex with her it was supposedly sexual contact. In  1990 ( July) just before my 20th birthday  I was sentenced to 5 years In the Texas Department of Corrections at that time there was no such thing as a registry. After serving not more than a year I was released on parole. In 1993 I violated my parole and was sent back to prison until 1995 and upon my release I was informed I would have to register as a Sex Offender for life @that point age 25 I had no idea of what an impact it would have on my…

What can we expect?

Hello all.. I’ve been reading through your posts and first want to say I’m so terribly sorry for all of the things you’ve had to deal with. I never really thought of it until meeting my boyfriend who is now serving time in a military confinement for downloading a zip file that held child pornography. We met during his investigation, he stole my heart and now we have been trying to navigate life for a little over a month since he’s been in confinement. It’s hard. It’s really hard! So my question is, what can we really expect after he serves his time? We’ve been discussing our future and he’s really worried about not being the man I need him to be (as far as being able to provide for a family). And then not to mention if we were to have children, that he wouldn’t be able to participate in their lives (going to school functions, taking them to…

Social Media Problems

One of my worst fears being on the registry recently came true somewhat, but luckily it was not as bad as I expected it to be. I am in a state that does not criminalize us from being on social media, so I have a social media account on just about every platform. I specifically use Facebook for business purposes. My worst fear was that someone would discover my status and report me to Facebook.  As many of you know, Facebook has it in their terms and conditions that we are not allowed to use their service.  This means that at any given time, they can delete my account.  While I don’t agree with them being able to discriminate against us in this way, it is what it is for now. Recently, a former business colleague of mine decided to try to “reveal” my status to all of my friends, family, etc.  I blocked her before she got through my…

PA CHAPTER 63 TITLE 23 Pa.C.S. § 6303 destroyed my family

Put yourself in my shoes for a moment. Imagine waking up in your warm, comfy, queen-sized, pillow-top bed in the morning to the sounds of “daddy daddy, I awake” around 7am after getting out of work at 2am. You roll out of bed, wake your fiance so that she can get your 8 year old step-daughter ready for school. You come downstairs with your 4 month old daughter in hand, set her up with a fresh diaper and warm bottle in the baby bouncer. At this point, your 2 year old daughter comes walking down the stairs and says, “hi daddy, I awake, I eat”. You ask what she would like to eat, a choice of pancakes or waffles. “Wafffs” she says, referring to waffles. After a fresh diaper for your 2 year old, you clear off a spot on your kitchen counter for the toaster and begin making morning breakfast and coffee. A short while later, your 8 year…

This Is bullying. Plain and simple.

Hello, my name is Kevin Soucy and I have been labeled a level 2 offender in the state of Rhode Island. Back in 1999 I was in my early 20’s, lonely, socially awkward, and still recovering from the nightmare of going through public school with an undiagnosed mental illness. I got a job working on computers and websites for a woman who had a young granddaughter whom I began having romantic feelings for. One day we were alone and playing on the bed when I reached up and pulled her pants down. She freaked out, and awareness of what I was doing hit me like a bucket of ice water. I couldn’t eat for the rest of the day and later than evening I confessed to the grandmother via email. The police got involved and I was sentenced to 15 years suspended with 4 months to serve in prison. When I got out I was required to attend group therapy,…

A sibling’s crime

A couple years a ago my sibling had been convicted of molesting my two children, hes spending the next 10 years in jail. About a year later I had a knock at my door during a dinner party with friends, it was the police. They wanted to look at my computers and any other computer equipment that I had, I handed over everything, they said they were looking for a Dell computer which was owned by my sibling and that I didn’t have. Although they did get a computer that my sibling had used and apparently downloaded images to. I was arrested for possession of child pornography I attempted to explain that the images weren’t mine that I had never even knew they were there they wouldn’t listen. I was ordered to take a psycho-sexual evaluation. I thought this was my chance to prove that I was innocent, they sent me to the same evaluator a Dr. Surbeck (spelled wrong…

Texas teen facing long sentence

Original post date: 17.06.2008 Jean Ponzanelli was in court yesterday. His attorney asked the judge to reset his hearing on the writ. The attorney is asking the court to allow Jean to withrdraw his plea based on the immigration issue. The judge said he would reset the hearing for 7/2/08 as he doesn’t see the writ happening. The judge also scheduled the revocation hearing for the same day. So, looks like the judge will recommend the appellate court to deny the writ and will revoke Jean’s probation and sentence him to prison on 7/2/08. Jean is looking at a 10 year prison term. I just want someone to tell me this is really not happening in this great country of ours. The bottom line is that we are sending a kid to prison for having sex with another kid. The court will argue that he is being sent to prison for violating probation. I would argue the kid should not…

Children, victims of father’s perceived crimes

Original post date: 16.05.2008 Editor’s note: The names and the state have been omitted to keep the anonymity of the persons involved. From the wife of a sex offender ‘out west.’ I have chosen to sign because I have watch the change in laws slowly destroy my husband. I don’t clam his innocent or his guilt as that was decided years ago when he took the plea agreement. I have found that claming his innocence, which I believe in, only makes my statement seem biased and defensive. His innocence or guilt doesn92t really matter anyways. The person he is matters! His criminal history only has two marks – The 13 year old conviction that made him a Sex Offender (lewdness w/ a minor under 14, His accuser was 13) and a 9 year old conviction for failure to register. The failure to register was simply a forgotten thing and he spent a 3 day weekend in jail to which the…
