Vigilantes Set Fire to SO’s Porch

originally posted 8/25/2010 I have a short story to tell you.   Right after I got out of military prison,  a teenager in our neighborhood found my name on the sex offender registry and decided he wanted to set a fire on my front porch.   We called the police and we knew who started the fire.   There was a can of gasoline right next to where the teenager was hiding.  The police said they could not prove who started the fire and did nothing to the teenager. One of the other things I think should happen is that if people want to access the registry maybe they should have to create an account and log in to view the registry; that way they can be tracked and if something happens to someone on the registry then there is a trail.

Daughter Had No Criminal History

originally posted 8/24/2010 My daughter had no criminal history at all.   Someone she met online sent her a couple images of what appeared to be minors in sex acts.   She didn’t report this, didn’t ask for the pictures, didn’t forward the pictures to anyone.   For having these pictures on her computer she received five years probation and is now on the registry for 20 years!   Her lawyer convinced her to plead guilty to avoid jail time and also lead her to believe she wouldn’t have to register.   The laws desperately need to be changed!  She had to register for her offense along with people who have raped children.  That makes no sense at all.  She lost her job because of this along with so much more. People who don’t know a sex offender, don’t really know what’s going on!  They need to know!  I’m thankful to have found this website.   Hopefully together we can…

Facing 5 Yrs Prison For Wanting to Stay Dry!

originally posted 8/24/2010 My friend was wrongfully convicted of a sex crime against a girl that he did not know was underage.   He kissed her and touched her breast after she came on to him.   The District Attorney had it in for him because he dated the D.A.’s daughter.   He pled guilty because his court appointed lawyer told him “she couldn’t fight the DA on this one and it would be in his best interest to plead guilty”.   He is being harassed unfairly now that he is out of jail by the law here and none of the other sex offenders are being harassed. He went to Florida where he unknowingly stayed with his girlfriend for five nights (nonconsecutive) because the tent he was living in – which the state told him to live in(under a bridge) was getting wet from rain.   He was arrested in Florida for being within 1000 yards of a park….

Every Time We Hear a Child Cry Behind Us…

originally posted 8/22/2010 I think that the sex offenders who keep on taking advantage of the system and the ones that are really dangerous are not on the registry.   But the ones like me who have made a life for myself and their families also take the hits from the laws. My employer knows that I’m on the registry and has gotten calls about me.  But he says he has never lost a client because of me.   It’s a form of discrimination against those who lead normal lives.   The Constitution protects against this. They say children do not lie; they will say almost anything to keep from getting in trouble.   They also twist your words and play mind games to confuse you to slip up and say what they want to hear.  Of course if you don’t have enough money you get the worst deal and railroaded into jail. I remarried and I have had an…

Judge Allows Appeal of Status

originally posted 8/20/2010 My son is in prison for using Limewire and Frostwire and looking for adult porn; unfortunately he clicked on a few wrong pictures and now is in prison.   He is not an SO and he was 20 when this happened.  He got 15 months, one year probation.   The best of all is that the judge gave us room to appeal the status. He stated that my son was not an SO and the only reason that he had to give him that status is because the laws state that anyone who does anything with sex is considered an SO.  There are to many young adults getting caught up in this especially with the internet and these young adults have their life ruined. We are appealing the status because of the violation of due process and equal treatment under the law.   The judge gave him plenty to work with.   We are hoping that this could…

Has Plenty of Work Experience, But Can’t Get Work

originally posted 8/19/2010 I worked for 27 years faithfully in the church as an associate pastor, yet through a failing marriage I made a very serious one time mistake with my daughter; fondled her while drinking, and it cost me my career, reputation and livelihood.  I have been out of prison one year now and have been terminated from jobs that knew my complete background, full disclosure at application, yet they let me go because an adult female working in the same building as myself felt “uncomfortable.”   I would like to be employed but have only been able to find occasional part-time self-employment working home improvements.   I have a lot of experience, training in my field as a music educator, but no one will give me a second chance.

Husband Refuses to Lie

originally posted 8/18/2010 My husband is a so-called “sex offender”, or so says his ex-wife.  She took their daughter to many different psychologists who finally told her what she wanted to hear. Twenty years later, while driving a tractor trailer through CA, he was stopped due to a minor traffic accident (which was not his fault).   He was immediately arrested due to the old incident and thrown in jail. The company he worked for left him in CA and fired him on the spot with no way home.  We live in Kentucky. At that time CA had a law on the books that said she could drag anyone, whether or not she knew them, off the street to say he had molested them, or someone they knew, and they would immediately arrest him again for another trial. Therefore we had to take a plea agreement. Now mind you that the doctor’s paperwork said this girl was still a virgin although…

No Redemption; No Forgiveness

originally posted 8/18/2010 My son Joey is in a VA jail.  He was sentenced to seven years for 22 counts of sodomy, double felon,  Federal government waiting to pounce only because Joey’s attorney gave the Feds a tidy package.   So they don’t have to do a thing other than give him more charges.   He is supposed to be at a university where he’z been admitted to work on his PhD, but instead he’s in jail!   This is a nightmare, he made a big mistake and it cost him his life.  There is no forgiveness, no redemption.  I need to fight this somehow,  I’m out of ideas.

Sexual Immorality Runs the Media

originally posted 7/27/2010 When my son was 21 he was kissing a 13 year old girl.  The girl’s mother was relentless and wanted him locked away for life.   He was in jail for seven months, did three years’ probation and now is on lifetime supervision (which was never explained to us when we took the plea to keep him out of jail) for up to ten years. He has had two counselors who said that he is at very low risk of reoffending (he was never in any trouble before), many of the people in authority that he talks to agree that he is a low risk yet he is on lifetime supervision.  Whenever my daughter is here with my two grandchildren, he cannot be at home. He is not allowed to talk to them on the phone or see pictures of them. He cannot afford to live elsewhere right now. We found out that if he makes any mistakes,…

Ridiculous Restrictions Cause Recidivism

originally posted 7/19/2010 My son pled no contest to robbery in 1999.   He received a seven year sentence.  Somewhere around 2000-2001 while in prison he was again charged and took a guilty plea (indecent exposure) for exposing himself to a female correctional officer.   At the time he was 19 or 20 years old locked behind bars. He was paroled in 2005 just before turning 25 years old.   He later failed a drug test administered by his parole officer and was taken back to jail on a parole violation.    When he was released the second time he was made to wear a GPS device which prohibited his ability to live with friends or family and caused him to become homeless. I would like to know what type of programs, if any are available to help rehabilitate him.   My son told me that he does not qualify for programs he has tried to get into because of…
