The Love of My Life in a Life Long Torture System

originally posted 2/10/2012 “

My soon to be husband is labeled as a sex offender for being in the wrong place at the wrong time with a minor who lied to save her self. We have recently moved to a new house and just started getting our lives together when we heard a loud knock on the door at 7am; it was the cops stating that he didn’t register, when In reality he did and the new address is posted online and he even had his letter of intent but the officer said that doesn’t matter he doesn’t have his plastic ID. So all I could do was sit back and watch as the put him in hand cuffs and took him to jail.
Then once he was released from jail to go and get his plastic ID he was arrested again for the same thing no ID. So he goes before the judge and the judge…

originally posted 2/6/2012 My brother who is 22 just had to register as a sex offender today!! When he was 18 yrs old he was got in trouble for looking at pornographic images on the internet. He was 18 yrs old looking at pictures of girls who were 16, this was the first time they ever had a computer in their house and he honestly didn’t know that it was against the law. Now 4 years later, it is finally settled, but he has 60 months supervised probation and had to register as a sex offender, he also lost his job because of all this mess. There has to be some way to differentiate between those who actually commit sex crimes and those who are looking at pictures or other similar things. At 22 he is labeled a sex offender for the rest of his life. The day the police showed up at the house, he was not arrested…

MOTHER

originally posted 1/17/2012 My son was 20 and had sex with a 14 year that said she was 17. I have her myspace page that states she was 17. But never the less my son will be a registered offender for the rest of his life, because she lied. My heart is broke, and most of the time I don’t know what to do with myself. He is not a violent offender, but that makes no difference when you have to register. It's just so wrong! His life was just starting. Now it's over because she lied. There is a big difference between raping and molesting a child, from when the girl lied about her age and got caught by her mom. There needs to be a change and I'm gonna fight for my son!!!!

Unfair Laws

originally posted 1/13/2012 I want it clear that I know I made mistakes, and I am not excusing my responsibility in any way. I had a sexual relationship with a teenage girl in 2005, her father knew and was OK with it. She pretty much lived with me for a little over a year, with parental consent. We were not careful (did not use protection) We were scared but excited when she became pregnant. Upon reviving welfare benefits, the state required a DNA test to prove paternity. A year after this I was charged by the state for rape. Our relationship broke down, but I still see our daughter on weekends, and pay child support. [My girlfriend] was already 18 when the court preceding started. She even stood in my defense, stating it was consensual My lawyer told me with DNA I could not win, so I took a plea for 3rd degree criminal sexual conduct in 2007 (statutory rape). I was unaware it would put me on the…

Forced to Come Out and then Punished for Honesty

originally posted 12/29/2011 At age 19 my son had a relationship with a 14 year old days from her 15th birthday. In deposition she admitted freely to lying about her age, stating she was 17, but of course, this doesn’t matter. He served 1 year on probation and made a suicide attempt the day he had to register and was violated to prison for using a prescription medication as his method of attempting to take his life. After 2 years in prison, he was released and immediately returned to university, finishing the last 2 semesters with a 3.65 in political science. He also has held a good student job as a waiter at a local sports bar, a job held for him by his employer despite his incarceration. But in Nov. of this year he failed a polygraph because he did not reveal he had had sexual encounters with men, something he was not ready to discuss yet with…

Heart Broken

originally posted 12/26/2011 I recently found the person I thought I would be so compatible with in life; the problem is that he is forced to be a life time registered sex offender. I was told If I lived with him or have him around my children, I have a good chance I could lose my children, my house, and our freedom. We would always no matter where we would go be judged. My recent new found love is a life time offender because a female lied about her age; she said she was 18 and turned out to be 16. I want to know why my guy has to be a life time sex offender because a 16 year old could not be honest? This happened over 10 years ago, and he is still paying the price. I do not think it is fair to him or others like him. I am so heart broken and don’t know…

Mom

originally posted 12/17/2011 Life as I’d known it came to a halt in August of 2005. And so began our awakening to the U.S. Justice System and the insidious demonizing of persons arrested for sex offenses. Never in a million years did I think this would happen to our family. As parents, we defy the accepted assumption that we were abusive to our children. Never, Ever!! Our son is a victim of brain injury that affects his take on the world. With the introduction of the internet and an undercover officer bent on conviction, our son was lured into saying things he had not done. He accepted a plea because the alternative was too horrendous to think about. And then, they threw the book at him. First offense, many character letters on his behalf, positive testimony by a sex therapist from another state, a fully supportive family…….and he got twenty years in a federal prison. Life will be forever…

Just Beginning a Life of Hell on Earth

originally posted 12/14/2012 I am a 37 year old former school teacher that spent 12 years of a career protecting kids. I was revered as a great teacher and community leader. That was before I got caught up in a conversation online with the police posing as a 36 year old woman who had a 15 year old daughter. My unfortunate intent was to have an affair on my lovely wife. I was going through a time of depression and some drinking, and got involved in this conversation with the intent of meeting the woman. The police played a back and forth game of “who is on the other end of the line” by acting the daughter at times and acting the mother at times… needless to say this turned into a nightmare that has DESTROYED my life! I didn’t get any prison time, just probation, yet I have the hell of registering for 15 years! My wife has…

Ready to Battle the School Board in Indiana

originally posted 12/4/2011 On December 12th, a motion to ban parents who are registered sex offenders from stepping on school grounds will go before the Carmel Clay school board in Carmel, Indiana. I plan to be there, and this is what I plan to say: I am the mother of two children. My five year old daughter is in kindergarten at West Clay Elementary, and my three year old son receives speech therapy at Orchard Park Elementary. We mean the world to each other. My daughter will readily tell you that I am the most important thing in her life, and my son runs to me in excitement after we have been apart. I am a wonderful and caring mother, a label I hold more true and more valuable than the new label that has been given to me. I am a registered sex offender. I am not proud of this status, but I am not going to hide from…

Lifetime of Shame for First Time Offense

originally posted 12/3/2011 I live in Tennessee. I have found myself on the TN registry for life, for an offense that was committed when I was barely 18. I am considered a violent offender according to the TN law statutes at this time. It didn’t use to be this way at the time I was convicted back in 1995. My offense was for having inappropriate contact with my niece whom at the time was not quite 13. My niece, her sister, and my cousin were over visiting with me and my parents for the afternoon. At some point it was decided it would be fun to explore a game of truth or dare. This game of Truth or dare originally didn’t start out to be anything sexual in nature; however it turned to such as the game progressed. My niece had her sister take her top off, my cousin had my niece kick me in the groin, in turn I reached out and attempted to pinch her…
