He was charged like he molested me instead of statutory rape. I was fourteen and he was nineteen. We have been married for thirteen years and he still has to register every year and gets grouped with all the other molesters. Megan’s law doesn’t give the date of the offense so the older he gets, the creepier he looks because no one can tell if it happened yesterday or eighteen years ago!
originally posted 1/11/2010 I am a rso grandfathered in 2 years ago for a plea i took 23 years ago during the witch hunt days. i was told after a year probation it would go away and I could get on with my life. I raised 3 children, coached little league 3 years, attended school and scout functions but because they decided to do this i have been deprived of seeing my oldest daughter graduate and will not be able to see the other two graduate. The sheriffB4s office shows up and does a search of my home today. I recently lost my job of 4 years due to this because they thought i was a felon. These were not felony convictions!
originally posted 1/9/2010 Why are they so tough on first time offenders with no other record, not even a speeding ticket in the state of Indiana? My son is back in jail because they claim he broke parole violation by working at his employers house (he has two children) and this was all brought up in court originally and he was given permission as long as they were not in the house. Now he is sitting in jail until Wed the 13th until a “new ” judge makes a decision to keep him there or let him go home and try to live his life within the strict boundaries they make for him. They want him to fail. They aren’t worried about him getting the proper help. That is most important I think and they don’t care. He has been punished for almost three years, and his life is pretty much ruined. We need help. He is about to…
originally posted 1/5/2010 I am sure there are many people out there who need the RSOL digests who are not allowed on the internet! Please send them the digests in print! When someone is convicted of an internet crime, in cases like my son, they are not allowed access to the internet while they are on probation. Ok now our probation department goes a little bit farther then that. My son is not allowed a computer in his home whether it is on line or not. My son is going to be taking classes here pretty soon, I have to type all of his papers up for him because he is not allowed to be on a computer period. There are so many things you can no longer do without computer access. They will not even let us get him a computer and put a filter on it or have it monitered through the courts if they feel the need….
originally posted 1/3/2010 My children need a voice. I need help navigating this system, to protect my children’s rights and mine. I cannot afford legal representation. With the help of friends I am looking for a pro bono attorney…hard to come by. My children were born in 1996 and 1999. In 2007 charges of sexual battery were brought against me as their father was 16 and 18 at the time of conception. I had been the sole financial provider as a single mother while I watched my children live without so much that they were deserving of. I was told by this other side of my children’s family that I got ‘plenty of help with the children’ and ‘did not deserve childsupport’. During this time not once did I discontinue the children’s contact with them, visits were obtainable at their descretion, and they enjoyed our children with very little responsibility. This is a very complicated case with many confusing…
originally posted 12/31/2009 I was convicted of molesting my daughter in 2004. I felt bad about my actions and had self-disclosed them to my wife at the time, who then turned me over to the law during our divorce. Since then, I have undergone 5 years of treatment and have successfully completed probation. Throughout it all, I have had the support and backing of my current wife, whom I married in 2007. We met online during a brief period of time between being released on my own recognizance and being inducted into the probation system, where I was then denied the ability to be online. We stayed in touch via phone conversations and she visited me on multiple occasions until we eventually married. My wife is an immigrant and non-US native. When we put in our paperwork for immigration, the Adam Walsh Act had not been well publicized. We were shocked to learn that they wished…
originally posted 12/29/2009 I’m wondering how we are supposed to get work. I used to get contract work but now I can’t even get a job at Lowe’s or McDonald’s. EVERYONE is checking and NO one is hiring! Even though I was 19 at the time and it was over 11 years ago. Just curious if anyone had any suggestions. I’m about to have to move home with my parents at 31 years of age. I don’t know what to do… I’m completely broke and lost and have no way of reestablishing a life. At every turn I’m turned down, kicked down, knocked down… is there any hope?
originally posted 12/29/2009 I am a Cold War veteran and a father of three beautiful children, I am not a rapist, child molester or kidnapper. I had been convicted of a NONVIOLENT sexual assault in the fourth degree, that now does not appear as a statute,17 years ago, and last year was told that I had to register as a sex offender for LIFE. I have already paid for this offence 17 years ago in full according to the laws of that time. Now I am being punished again for the same offence, they call it civil collateral, I call it a violation of my right to be human on this planet. According to Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations. This State is in direct violation of Article 3, Article 4, Article 5, Article 6, Article 7, Article 11, Article 12, Article 21, Article 23 and Article 30 of this document!
originally posted 12/17/2009 As a few of you know, my son recently took his first polygraph as part of his probation. He passed the test because he was very honest; however there was a serious consequence to his honesty. Because he had drunk and watched adult content on Showtime (they called Showtime “pornography”), his PO filed to have his probation removed, recommending prison for a year and GPS monitoring (in our state, the monitoring would be for life). The court-ordered therapist was very surprised at her recommendation, stating that was NOT what they had discussed. We then found out that the judge who would be hearing this is the toughest in the county with zero tolerance…the county detention overflowing with people waiting to be sent to prison, much because of his harsh sentencing. We did not have much hope. But, with much much prayer and constant and unwaivering faith, we received a miracle. My boy was sentenced…
originally posted 11/30/2009 I was tried when I was 18 and convicted of carnal knowledge of a minor between 13-15—it was my high school boyfriend. I was 17 at the time, and he was 14, almost 15. During our relationship I ended up pregnant and was charged and convicted! — Now I have to deal with being labeled as a sex offender– this has ruined my life!
