Registering 4x a yr for misdemeanor: Life is sure rough!

originally posted 4/15/2010 Just got home from registering for the 15th year…….Hmmmmm life sure is rough. Attempted CSC 4th degree is the only thing I have ever had the misfortune to have on my record…EVER.   It is a misdemeanor that is classified and treated as a felony!   I have been married for 10 years with three awesome children; an eight, five and one year old.  I was in 4H for six years; won a gold medal at the MSU Culinary Arts Festival when I was 13 years old competing against college students;  I was a certified Master Mechanic by the age of 17;  I started playing bluegrass 5-string banjo at the age of five and am now an accomplished musician who plays banjo, piano, drums, guitar, and violin;  I became a tool and die maker and went through an apprenticeship;  I mastered CNC programming and was revered as one of the best machinists around. I have lost every job I have ever had…

Punished for falling in love?

originally posted 4/10/2010 Why are we being punished?  Because we fell in love?? I go to court tomorrow on neglect charges cause I allowed my kids after three years and many tears and fights later to see their dad for the first time.  (kinda snapped.  They told my eight year old that he could have a supervised visit at his dad’s and then within two hours took it away.) I didn’t know what else to do and now my husband is in jail.  I have given my mom guardianship of our daughter and my mother in law guardianship of our two boys.  I’m scared, I’m tired and the one person who can make this pain go away for a minute, I cant even touch.   I’m losing my grip on reality fast and my hopelessness is getting worse.  AND WHY?  BECAUSE I CHOSE TO FALL IN LOVE AND STAND BY MY HUSBAND RIGHT OR WRONG!! We have been together for 1 years and…

Registries Used to Attack Offenders

originally posted 4/9/2010 I am a RSO in Illinois.  I was forced to plead guilty to a crime I did not commit. My brothers ex wife was trying to gain full custody of the kids (two of them)  so she could move to another state with her new boyfriend and used me to get it. She made her daughter(who was 4) claim that I had touched her during a Halloween party.  The child was interviewed by police and a psychiatrist and she kept telling them that “‘mommy says uncle (my name) did it” but it didn’t matter. I was later arrested (four months later) and spent almost a year in jail.  The other factors that prove my innocence are as such:  I used to have a lot of friends (now I’m a social outcast) that I was with on a daily basis and a steady girlfriend.   They were with me every day and she was with me every night, so…

The Madness Has to End

originally posted 4/9/2010 I am among those who cannot sign, but have worked hard at addressing my problems and believe strongly in what you are doing.  I face losing my career and my home for an act against an adult that, while inappropriate and offensive, does not warrant taking me from my wife and children for a year beginning next month, taking me away from my job which supports them and then having me register in my community for the next 10 years for an act that was largely the result of specific circumstances and the causes of which I have worked hard on solving through years of successful therapy.   I am not a danger to anyone.   The madness has to end.

Trapped in Darkest Place in the World

originally posted 4/6/2010 Our son was trapped by Virginia policemen and they sentenced him for 20 years for discussing child porn with an adult “friend” without any intent to harm any children.   This is in Stafford county in Virginia, the darkest place in the world, where judges don’t consider the sentences, but mentally sick DAs determine them.

An Animal Is Treated Better Than My Son!

originally posted 4/4/2010 My son, age 18, had consentual sex with a 14 year old, who said she was 17 years old. He was judically blackmailed by the DA to take a plea bargain. When we first refused he changed the charges to make them more severe. After a year and a half of waiting for a trail we finally agreed to a plea “deal”. I wish I could go back and redo that decision. My son served 3 years in prison and has served 12 years in HELL as a registered sex offender. No job, no future, NO HOPE. My family’s life or future has never been ‘normal’ since that day. We spend most of our efforts and money trying to ‘fix’ a grown man, but the restrictions placed on him as a Sex offender make him ‘unfixable.’ We recently relocated him to a small town and were working hard on getting his own business started (finally a job…

Putting People Where They Will Fail!

originally posted 3/30/2010 I am in support of this reform because my brother has served his time and we cannot find him a place to live because Ky laws say he cannot live in a home with minor children, even though we would allow him too. I dont support what he did, but I dont believe in putting these people in places where they will fail constantly. His crime, which was statutory rape, is also put into a broad category that makes him to be a monster and/or (child molester) to the rest of the public which means no job either. Something has to change and I want to be part of it. These crimes should be punishable and probation, and registry to law officials ONLY, is warranted, but if a family member agrees to allow this person to live with them to help them get on their feet, then no one should have the right to say otherwise. This…

Poster Child for S.O. Law Reform

originally posted 3/28/2010 I have been indicted on 1 count of Receipt of Child Pornography while I was using Limewire. I havent had my trial yet, but I am fighting like hell to change the laws and public perception regarding these charges, and this seems like the place to start. I want to talk to people and explain the difference, and how EASY it is to get these videos by one simple click of the mouse button. I am 34yrs old, NEVER been in trouble, have no criminal record of any sort, dont do drugs, rarely drink, have no interest in having sex with kids, and yet, the government wants to lock me up for 13yrs! They want 1/3 of my life for something I had for 2 weeks on my computer but they fail to mention the other 100 plus gigs of music, music videos, movies and legal pornography. The amount of illegal material was so small in comparison….

Former Offender Blocked at Every Turn!

originally posted 3/14/2010 I committed a victimless crime 10 years ago. What I did was wrong and I accept full responsibility for every decision I made and every action I took and I paid very dearly for my transgression. All I’ve ever wanted to do since this unfortunate episode was to go back to the productive, law-abiding, contributory life I previously led. This has been virtually outlawed. I am blocked at every turn. I’ve been through no less than 5 professions since, and have been forced out all five times. I cannot even VOLUNTEER to help my fellow man. I am now on my final attempt at legitimacy. I don’t have the energy to start over yet again. I am not a “sex offender”. “Sex Offender” is present tense. It implies that at this very moment I am committing a sex offense. I am most certainly not. I am a “former” offender. Someone who 10 years ago made a victimless…
